College football newsCincinnati Bengals Team Report.
Record: 0-3 Next opponent: vs. Cleveland, September 28
The Bengals fell to 42-42 under coach Marvin Lewis after Sundays 26-23 overtime loss to the New York Giants. No team since the 1998 Buffalo Bills has made the playoffs after an 0-3 start. Judging by the upcoming schedule, Lewis will have to get things turned around in a hurry for a successful 2008. Cincinnati hosts the Cleveland Browns in Week Four, then travels to Dallas before returning to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Jets. Then the Bengals return home to host the Pittsburgh Steelers. RB Chris Perrys 25-yard TD run was his longest run since a 30-yarder in 2005 and the Bengals longest since Rudi Johnson ripped off a 36-yarder October 25, 2004. The Bengals had a chance to beat the Giants at the end of regulation Sunday. With a 3rd-and-1 and 12 seconds left with one timeout, QB Carson Palmer found Antonio Chatman short of the goal line, and the ball ended up on the 3. They used the final timeout with four seconds left, and K Shayne Graham converted a field goal to send it to overtime. We were trying to score a touchdown, Lewis said. We only had one timeout left. If we used it there (on 3rd-and-1) you cant kick the field goal.
