2009 Wimbledon Betting – Nadal and new roof will come out to play
Tennis betting newsThe 2009 Wimbledon betting odds are posted, but now there is a real wild card: will Rafael Nadal play? Online sports betting handicappers will now get a chance to bet on Nadal playing, as well as a few other Wimbledon proposition bets such as whether the new roof will be used in the finals. Here is a preview of both 2009 Wimbledon betting props:
2009 Wimbledon betting: Handicappers believe Nadal will play
Nadal questionable for Wimbledon because of knee injuries
Fellow rival, Andy Murray, expects Nadal to play
After rainy men’s final in 2008, good chance roof could be in play in 2009 men’s final
The 2009 Wimbledon betting season is just about underway and a lot of experts are curious about Nadal’s status. The reigning champion was expected to be back to defend his crown – and potentially re-continue Roger Federer’s misery – but the sport has taken an unexpected turn. Nadal lost at the French Open for the first time ever, which allowed Federer to swoop in for his 14th Grand Slam title. Now Federer will go for No. 15, and with Nadal potentially out of the way, he will cement his legacy as the best ever.
The 2009 Wimbledon betting season just won’t be the same if the champ isn’t there, which is why Nadal is doing everything in his power to attend. The few scraps of news we do have is that he is undergoing treatment, and Andy Murray – who will also try to establish himself – has predicted that Nadal will be there. In the sportsbook, Nadal is -800 to be present, so that shows how confident the odds makers are that he will be a part of the 2009 Wimbledon Betting season.
The other proposition that the tennis betting community is examining is the new roof at the Wimbledon Lawn and Country Club. The 2009 Wimbledon betting odds indicate that the roof will be open during the entire men’s final, but it’s hard not to like the great value offered on “yes.” The prop specifies that the roof can be closed at any point, and it pays +400 if it closes at all. When the 2009 Wimbledon betting crowd thinks back to last year, there were several delays in the final, and there was also rain throughout. The roof could have been closed at several points, and now that they have it at their disposal, they won’t hesitate to use it and show it off.
Braden Baley’s Pick: Bet on Nadal to play at Wimbledon -800 and bet on the roof to be closed at any point during men’s final +400.
