I’m so sick of the crap I hear on the internet about dating girls. Like having confidence and perseverance when talking to girls, etc. None of that stuff even matters if you’re not attractive. At least I don’t feel that im attractive, but i’ve had grown ups tell me I’m handsome, but their opinions are worthless to me. I’m a bit on the obese side, but I do stuff like play tennis, piano, and i can sing. Im 21 and never had a gf, but I go to Univ. of Michigan, one of the best engineering schools in the country. So I’ve established that I’m going to stop trying to look for girls, b/c it doesnt matter for me b/c I’m not attractive. Im gonna bet that there are multiple posts that will say stuff like, "oh my bf is a nice guy and we’ve been dating, etc" or girls will say spoon fed shit like "oh you just gotta be confident and sweet." Hahaha. bullshit. it only works if youre attractive. I’ve never even had a chance to hang out with a girl b/c theyve always rejected to hang out hiding under excuses like "I have hw to catch up on" or simply "I’m busy." Or simply not responding to texts. There are gonna be responses like "well maybe she was busy, etc." But I know how girls work. If they really did want to hang out, theyd make the time to do so. And I’ve tried multiple times with girls, and Ive never even been given a chance. At least hang out once and then decide to be friends. All this being said, I’ve accepted that I’m going to be single the rest of my life, so I’m going to try to make my career the best it can be to compensate for my loneliness. So far, this has been the best cover up for my depression. I’m actually on pace to have a job after graduation, as I’ve had an internship with the same company 2 summers in a row. But anyways, I just wanted to get this all off my chest.

AND I KNOW THERE ARE GOING TO BE GIRLS WHO WILL DISAGREE, BUT YOU’RE HONESTLY LYING TO YOURSELF IF YOU SAID PERSONALITY TRUMPS LOOKS. There will prob be some bullshit like "oh well my bf is a really nice guy and not a hunk, etc." hahahaha such horse shit.

i’m in my late 20′s and yes you’re right, women are all about looks. they are really no different than us, keep that in mind. it’s just women are actually infact much pickier because it’s all about the whole package-looks, money, social status, etc. the attributes that provide a living are actually worth more but if you happen to be a good looking guy with tons of money you’ll have no difficult at all getting the girls you want.

don’t let their bullshit bother you tho. just live your fucking life man. as you get older you’ll see how stupid it is to have ever wasted your time worrying about females (and yes you’ll get your share of them too)

well i agree, but guys do the same thing, “i love you for your personality” give me a break? everyone wants to believe that they love someone for they’re personality, because they don’t want to be so judgmental on people’s looks, but lets face it, looks matter.
No one wants to be that picky person who goes around saying, but looks do matter, and your not good enough.
Everyone’s lying to themselves.

What about stopping to act like a life hating little prick? That would surely help!

I’m not gonna lie, looks matter but not as much as you think they do. Looks work as to “draw” many people to you, but if they find out you’re an asshole no decent girl is gonna want to be with you. Besides, everyone likes different traits in people. Big muscles freak me out for example.

I suggest you stop trying so hard and get your school done first. If you’re not happy about your weight then continue doing your healthy sports and eat healthy etc.

I promise you, you’ll find someone eventually if you continue to meet people and be polite and funny. I’d go for a positive person with good humour and cofidence before someone with tight abs and money aaaaaaany day!

im a guy and im not cute nor hot and never have been — im at best average —- but i do know for a fact that personality is more important than looks —- i have a lady that loves me —- she is also intelligent confident and literally can have any man she wants —- she wants me because of who i am and im not rich either —- so stop feeling sorry for yourself go about your business BUT keep an open mind —- you will meet someone who will knock your socks off and she will feel the same

Girls (and guys!) say that personality is more important than looks because admitting they go on looks makes them seem shallow. The truth is that both have an impact.

Looks are key for two things – advertising and status. Good looking guys will pick up girls much more easily because girls are attracted to them, and because they like to show them off. But it’s not just the looks – confidence is a big part of it. Ugly guys who are self-assured will trump good-looking shy boys every time. If you have both looks and confidence, you’ll attract a lot of girls. If you lack both, you’ll struggle to get anywhere.

But looks are just the bait. The hook is the personality. Girls will flock to sleep with handsome lotharios, but they’ll only do it once. If you’re after a one night stand, a good personality will do you no favours. But if you’re after a relationship, it’ll never work out unless you can be friends as well as lovers. If you are shy and not blessed with looks, but you do land a girl, odds are she’ll be a keeper.

Most girls (and also boys) do not want to be perceived as shallow people by placing too much emphasis on looks.

However, the reality is that 99 percent of human beings will make their initial judgement regarding whether they are sexually interested in another person, based on looks. We are all biologically hardwired to respond to certain characteristics – fit bodies, symmetrical faces, proportionate features.
When women say that they like a guy who is funny, or clever, you can take it as read that they will value those things on the assumption that the male candidate passes the requirements in terms of their physical appearance.

Women value looks as much as men do (and men generally value looks enormously…) but they are less inclined to state that fact directly.

Okay. First off, way to generalize every single girl on the planet like you know them.

Second, it’s not ONLY looks that matter. Sure, i’m not going to deny that i do need some physical attraction with the guy for me to go out with them. But i definitely would not go out with them if they would be mean to me or if i don’t like their attitudes, no matter how good looking they are.

And third, you shouldn’t give up dating just because you had a few fall outs with girls. You’re still young and (from what i read and understand, in college) so there will be a lot of more opportunities to date.

Well. Looks do matter. And well, I’ve gone out with guys, that I can admit, that weren’t exactly good looking or good looking at all.
Looks, don’t mean anything unless they’ve got a good personality.
If you’re funny, you’re automatically more attractive. If you’re confident, you’re automatically more attractive. If you’re sweet, than you’re automatically more attractive. If you’re nice, you’re automatically more attractive.
And there are girls out there who won’t give a crap what you look like, if you made them happy.
And besides, as life goes on, personality trumps looks.
If you’re with a decent girl, a REAL girl, then she’ll be someone who goes after the one who makes her happy, not the gorgeous one.
And besides. If she was the one, you’d be gorgeous to her anyway.

Well for me, I need both, but I would say personality outweighs the looks. Like, if you’re hot, but you’re a total ass, then it’s not going to happen. If you’re average and your personality is good, then I would go for THAT guy rather than the hot guy with a terrible personality. Of course, I get attracted to guys based on their looks first and then get to know their personality as we go along. Yeah I admit it. I get attracted to the looks first and then get to know their personality. I don’t outright judge them if they’re “ugly” though. If their looks are average, then I would still be their friend and get to know their personality. :/

The online betting season for tennis betting players really starts at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, and the usual suspects are at the top of the list when it comes to favorites. However, we’re banking on a British player who has come in second in each of the last two years.

What: Tennis Betting
When: January 15th-29th, check listings for matches
Where: Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Australia
Pick: Andy Murray +500

The Favorites

It should be no surprise that Novak Djokovic (+210) entered the event as the favorite after winning three Grand Slams last year, including this tournament for the second time in his career. The Serbian has been the world’s best player for the last year or two, and he definitely took the crown in 2011 from Roger Federer (+500) and Rafael Nadal (+650), who made some interesting comments about Federer ahead of the tournament and it’ll be interesting to see these great rivals face off at some point in the tournament. However, as always Nadal is dealing with an injury and this time, he hurt his knee in a first-round win. Whether or not his body can hold up on the hard courts of Melbourne Park remains to be seen. Federer has won this event four times to just one for Nadal and the Swiss great has rached the semifinals every year since 2003.

The tennis betting x-factor in this tournament is Andy Murray (+500), who has reached the finals in each of the last two Australian Opens, only to fall to Federer in 2010 and then Djokovic in 2011. The Englishman is still looking for his first Grand Slam, but he is getting closer after a final and three semifinal appearances last year. Nadal is hurt, Federer is probably past his best and if history is any indicator, Djokovic could slow down after a busy 2011. Murray definitely has the tools to break through and it may just be in Melbourne.

The Second Tier

There isn’t much to discuss in the second tier as Juan Martin del Potro (+1300) and Jo- Wilfried Tsonga (+1600) lead the way, and del Porto has never made it past the quarterfinals down under. Last year, del Potro failed to progress past the fourth round in any of the Grand Slams and he’ll be eager to rectify that this season. Tsonga has been successful at Melbourne Park, losing in the 2008 finals to Djokovic and he ended 2011 with a semifinal appearance at Wimbledon and a quarterfinal showing at the U.S. Open.

If you have to take one of these players, Tsonga may be the wiser tennis betting option because of his athleticism that allows him to get to a lot of different shots. Tsonga has a little more experience at 26 years old and you have to remember that del Potro is still only 23; he has struggled mightily since winning the U.S. Open in 2009, partly due to a wrist injury that essentially wiped out 2010 and last year he looked tentative. Look for del Potro to get back to his best this year, but at Melbourne Park, Tsonga should be your second-tier play.

The Longshots

Gael Monfils (+6100) heads the list of tennis betting longshots at the Australian Open, even though he has been eliminated in the third round in each of the last two years. Monfils is one of the most exciting players on the tour and is moving up the ranks, but his best performance in a Grand Slam was a semifinal showing at the 2008 French Open; he has to translate his potential to success.

American Andy Roddick (+12600) will always move the needle for fans, and with his hard-hitting style, hard courts will always be his best chance for success. He has reached the semifinals of the Aussie Open four times, with the last time coming in 2009, and he hasn’t won a tournament since February 2011.

How It Will Play Out

It would be a major surprise to everyone involved if a player outside of the top four favorites won, and since 2004, only one player outside of the Djokovic-Federer-Nadal axis has won the Australian Open. But it’s time to make room for Andy Murray, who should have his best chance to come away with his first Grand Slam. He has to deal with the pressure of his fans as no British player has won a Grand Slam since 1936, but if Murray can keep his composure, this may be his best chance to in the last few years to break through, so put your money down on Andy Murray in your sports betting picks.

Australian Open Betting Pick: Andy Murray

I love a good bet, in fact it is one of the few things I do like, however I am the only person that seems to lose yeah right, but I have heard that certain people make a living at betting on: football, tennis, cricket, darts or snooker on BET 365 or Bet fair.

Is this true and if so is it you?

On average I bet about £15.00 a week, and mostly break even, or make a slight loss.

The best win I had was when Sunderland beat Chelsea to end there home run the odds were 17/1 at the time and I put £20.00 on Sunderland. They won 3-1 in the end, so I won £3400.00 plus my stake. That was not a bad day, but lost most of it since then.

Any how about making a living. Any small tips would be great as well.

I find that if I bet on the favorite the underdog wins, and if I have a punt. The favourite wins its so annoying lol.
Sorry I only won £340.00 my maths sorry!!!

When it comes to betting the only one guaranteed to make money is the bookmaker

don’t bet parleys they decrease your odds greatly, it also depends how much your bank role is. You should try to bet 1% of your bank role on any one bet, no more. Some good advice i heard is bet against a hot team going up against a cold team, for example if Team A has a 5 game winning streak going against team B with a 5 game losing streak, take the underdog and the points because they should be greatly inflated.

I’ve bet on baseball and american football mostly and like you have been up and down, and eventually lose it all. but i was doing mostly parleys with my dad and brother ( we each pick one game ) and usually two of us would win and one lose. But it was only for $1000 for the three of us on the year.

If you are successful you will be quickly banned from the sports book (I should know, I have a lot of closed accounts). This leaves with you the option of using the betting exchange (betfair), yes it is possible I know some people who make a living betting on horses whilst the race is running, but they work in the back room of the betting shop I work in, they have a few seconds on the mugs sat at home and that is their edge, they can make a living, but it is just a 9-5 job to them, they work hard and none of them are exactly loaded anyway, as far as betting on ante post football dream on, you have no edge and if you play the odds of sports books (like I used to) you could squeeze a few thousand out, but you will eventually be banned from all sports books (like me).

I have been a professional sports gambler for over 20 years

I live with sports betting. I quit my job few months ago because of that, it’s kind of a dream job, but it can be hard for your nerves. I didn’t spent a single cent in a long time, I just withdraw earnings monthly. Of course years of experiences and few good advises from professionals are needed. There is a system which minimizes your risk and gets you money in the long term and it’s the ONLY system that gets you money (it’s a simple system, don’t google for betting systems, 99% of them are pure scams). You just need daily picks from professionals, there are few good services online, I’m a premium member of link from source.

Bottom line is, for going into sports betting professionally, you need all of these 3 things, you can’t do business without even one of them. 1: To understand the system and it’s profit and knowing it’s a long term profit. 2: To be PATIENT (this prevented me from being a pro few years earlier) and 3: Having a professionals do the picks for you.

Sorry for my English.

During my vacation in UK i used to make bets at paddypower bet shops. As i am a a huge tennis fan i usually bet only on it. One day after i’ve lost about 800 pounds on a tennis match i have bet 700 pounds more on another tennis match and where i have won more then 10k ponds. When i came with my winnings tickets to the operator he made a call and since now ( already 2 weeks) they keep saying that tennis federation is investigating that match and i have to wait because they dont have a result and as soon the investigation is not finished they are not able to pay me . Please give me an advice what shall i do ? im in my home country right now and i keep calling them every 2 days but everytime i hear the same things…

They are probably telling the truth. You can find that out by doing a little research, though. Just find on the internet if the match has a result or not. If it doesn’t have one, they are telling the truth and you must wait.

If it *does* have one, then print out that page, and take it to the shop. If they tell you the same thing, ask to speak to a supervisor, and show them the page. Or if you can’t take it to the shop, then ask for a supervisor over the phone, and direct them to the web site that shows the investigation is over.

Finally, if they truly refuse to pay a verifiable winning ticket, they are breaking UK law. Tell them you will be reporting them to the police for breaking the law. But only do this is the result of the match has been determined, and they still won’t pay, even after you’ve spoken to a supervisor. Also tell them that you will be posting on the Internet that they don’t pay on winning tickets.

The match is under investigation, you’ll just have to wait. You will need to contact paddy power help and the organization that hosted/organized the tennis match for further information. Paddy Power have no legitimate business reason to withold your winnings, they will be eager to get them to you so you can gamble it all again. It is not in the bookmakers interest to hold back winnings.

Novak Djokovic dismissed Ivan Dodig of Croatia 6-4, 6-3 in the Paris Masters second round on Wednesday showing no signs of the shoulder injury that bothered him last weekend at the Swiss Indoors.

The top-ranked Serb had complained of shoulder pains in his semifinal loss to Kei Nishikori in Basel. But he said he was fine after practice on Tuesday.

“I took the necessary measures in the last couple of days in order to recover (and) play in this tournament,” Djokovic said. “Im feeling good on the court and thats what matters.”

If Djokovic hadnt played in Paris, he would have lost a $1.6 million bonus paid to the year-end No. 1 player for appearing in seven of the eight mandatory Masters events. The Serb didnt play in the Shanghai Masters last month because of injury.

He looked good on Wednesday. Dodig dropped serve at 5-4 with a backhand error to lose the first set. Djokovic hit a crosscourt backhand winner on the line for a 4-2 lead in the next set, clinching victory with an ace.

“Its obvious that Im still not on top of my game,” Djokovic said. “But Im taking things quite slowly, step by step, knowing that the form will improve each day that I play.”

Djokovic will next play compatriot Viktor Troicki, who beat Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 6-4, 6-4.

Andy Murray and Roger Federer also moved into the third round.

Murray improved his record to 16-0 since the U.S. Open by beating Jeremy Chardy of France 6-2, 6-4, and Federer cruised past French wild card Adrian Mannarino 6-2, 6-3.

“I thought it was a decent start,” Murray said. “I mean, I didnt lose my serve. I dont think he had any break points, so that was good.”

Murray, who last lost to Rafael Nadal in the U.S. Open semifinals but has won 26 of 27 matches since mid-August, jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set. In the second set, the second-seeded Briton broke serve at 2-2 on a double-fault from Chardy and held on to win when a backhand volley from the Frenchman sailed wide.

“He is playing at a higher level,” Chardy said. “Hes playing the right shots. Hes everywhere.”

Murray played solid tennis, making only nine unforced errors compared to 35 for Chardy. He will next face Andy Roddick.

While some players have complained about the slowness of the surface, Federer wasnt among them.

“In Paris, its faster than (four) years ago when I lost against Nalbandian,” Federer said. “It was almost like the French Open No. 2.”

Mardy Fish is just one win away from securing his spot for the ATP World Tour Finals after routing Florian Mayer of Germany 6-1, 6-2.

The seventh-seeded American did not face a break point, and won seven straight games to take the first set and lead 2-0 in the second.

David Ferrer of Spain, Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine and John Isner of the United States also won in straight sets to advance.

The fourth-seeded Ferrer beat Nicolas Mahut of France 6-4, 6-4. Mahut double-faulted to drop serve at 1-1 before sending a backhand return long to lose the first set. The Spaniard clinched victory on an unforced error to next meet Dolgopolov who downed Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-3, 7-6 (6).

The 11th-seeded Tipsarevic defeated Alex Bogomolov Jr. of the United States 6-1, 6-0. Bogomolov took the opening game before losing 12 in a row. Tipsarevic will next play Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.

Isner ousted Igor Kunitsyn of Russia 6-4, 6-4 and was praised by Murray for his big serve.

“Id say Isner probably has got the best serve Ive played against,” Murray said. “For me, Isner has got the best serve in tennis, and then Karlovic.”

Nicolas Almagro of Spain and Frenchmen Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon were the only seeded players to lose Wednesday. Andreas Seppi of Italy downed No. 9 Almagro 6-3, 7-5, No. 8 Monfils lost 6-3, 6-4 to Feliciano Lopez of Spain, and Juan Monaco of Argentina ousted No. 10 Simon 6-4, 6-0.

Defending champion Roger Federer beat Kei Nishikori 6-1, 6-3 in the Swiss Indoors final on Sunday to win his first title in 10 months.

The former top-ranked Swiss was emotional as he thanked his hometown fans after winning for the fifth time in six years at the event where he once worked as a ballboy.

“Its always the greatest for me to win the title here. See you next year,” he said on court in Swiss-German.

Federer had a complete game on display to dominate the 32nd-ranked Japanese, who stunned top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.

“He was too good for me today,” said the 21-year-old Nishikori. “I tried to do my best but he wouldnt let me.”

Federers 68th career title was just his second this season after he won the season-opening event in Doha, Qatar. He had not reached a title match since losing the French Open final to Rafael Nadal in June.

Now ranked No. 4 at age 30, Federer was playing his first event while ranked outside the top three since he won his first Wimbledon title in 2003.

Nishikori started strong on his own serve but Federer broke after reeling off three straight winners. Federer dropped just one point on his own serve in the first set and fired flat ground strokes to all corners of the court. He repeatedly pressured Nishikoris serve and took the set on a double fault.

Nishikori fended off break point chances to hold serve early in the second, then showed his speed and defensive strength by outlasting Federer in a long rally. The reprieve was brief and Federer broke again to lead 4-2.

He was serving for the match when Nishikori earned his first break-point chance, which Federer saved with a powerful serve.

Federer took his first match point with an overhead smash at the net as Nishikori scurried to field shots deep beyond the baseline.

Nishikori will rise to a career-best ATP ranking Monday – perhaps as high as No. 25, which would mark the highest ever by a Japanese mens player.

The Basel lineup originally included five top 10 players, with Federer and Djokovic returning after six-week breaks after the U.S. Open and Davis Cup matches.

“It has been a long time since I felt so good physically,” Federer said.

Federer improved as the week progressed but won without playing anyone ranked higher than No. 15 American Andy Roddick in the quarterfinals.

An injury-hit week saw Djokovic hampered by right shoulder pains against Nishikori, while Britains Andy Murray withdrew one hour before his first-round match.

Mardy Fish of the U.S. and Serbian Janko Tipsarevic retired in their opening matches having completed just seven games combined, and seventh-ranked Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic was eliminated by Nishikori, a wild-card entry.

Fernando Verdasco of Spain rallied past Marin Cilic of Croatia 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Paris Masters on Monday.

Julien Benneteau of France, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain, Kevin Anderson of South Africa, and Germans Philipp Kohlschreiber and Florian Mayer also advanced.

The tournament is the last chance for some players to gain one of the last three remaining spots for the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Cilic hit a forehand winner to take the first set, but Verdasco bounced back by jumping to 3-0 leads in the second and third sets.

“Its slower than last year,” Verdasco said. “I prefer maybe a little bit more this court because its slower and I have more time to prepare my shots.”

Verdasco is hoping to play for Spain in next months Davis Cup final.

“If I play Davis Cup, then I will try to prepare and get ready for that final the best as possible,” Verdasco said. “And if Im not, at least finish well here.”

Verdascos next opponent is fifth-seeded Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.

Benneteau defeated Milos Raonic of Canada, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-4, setting up a match with 13th-seeded Andy Roddick. The French wild card reached the final of the Winston-Salem Open in August and has improved his ranking to No. 54 after being No. 87 six months ago.

Kohlschreiber defeated Mikhail Youzhny of Russia 6-4, 6-2. The German qualifier broke to lead 4-3 in the opening set before going 4-0 up in the second.

Garcia-Lopez edged Colombian qualifier Santiago Giraldo 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 and next plays sixth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France. Giraldo slammed his racket to the ground after netting a backhand to lose the match.

Anderson had 13 aces to outlast Gilles Muller of Luxembourg 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Nicolas Mahut served three straight aces to close out a 6-2, 6-3 win over former No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain and next plays fourth-seeded David Ferrer.

Mahut was playing for the first time since withdrawing from a second-round match at the Valencia Open following the death of his 2-year-old nephew eight days ago.
